Why Choose Buenos Aires For Your Remote Work and Travel?
Bossa Nova
Bossa nova was born from a cocktail of traditional Afro-Brazilian samba, American Jazz, and Portuguese poetry. Rising from the beach culture of the 1950s, it has become a distinctive sound of Brazil and a seminal influence on world music and dance. Whether at the Bip Bip Bar, The Maze Rio, or along the Beco das Garrafas, there are many inviting, colorful clubs sounding out the syncopated beats of bossa nova.
Christ the Redeemer
Considered one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World,” the Christ the Redeemer statue is a symbol of religious history and perhaps the most famous icon of the Art Deco movement. It towers against the skyline from the uppermost peak of Tijuca National Park, 635 metric tons of concrete and soapstone, and a shoe-in for Instagram gold.
Sunset at Arpoador
Rio has many wide-open beaches for surfing and socializing – smack in the middle of its two most popular, Ipanema and Copacabana, is Arpoador Beach – a spot romanticized for its sunsets. Here people take picnics and gather along the stones to applaud as the sun takes its final bow each night, especially near Midsomer, when the sun dips just over the sea.
Getting a bird’s eye view of Rio can be thrillingly beautiful on the cable cars of Pão de Açúcar or Sugarloaf Mountain at the mouth of Guanabara Bay. The peak juts out of the Atlantic Ocean and stands nearly 400 meters high. Sightseeing at the mountain can be a relaxing jaunt by vehicle or an adventurous outing for rock climbers.
Brigadeiros
One of South America’s most appreciated sweets is the Brigadeiro. Said to have been invented right in Rio, think of them as a twist on a chocolate truffle. American chefs sometimes describe the taste as that of “a high-end Tootsie Roll.” Naturally, some shops get inventive and throughout the city, there are various iterations of this classic bite-sized dessert.
